Special Interests

In a bid to provide quality services to its members, LATAZ at its National Council Meeting held in March 2023, resolved to establish Special Interest Groups. A Special Interest Group (SIG) is a community within a larger organisation with a shared interest in advancing a specific area of knowledge, expertise, learning or technology where members cooperate to affect or produce solutions within their particular field and may communicate, meet and organise events like conferences.

The Special Interest Groups have been established for the following purposes:

  1. Increase and broaden member participation opportunities.
  2. Develop local expertise in various language teaching areas.
  3. Provide authentic and meaningful specialised Continuing Professional Development to members and the wider language and literacy teaching community.

LATAZ has established 12 Special Interest Groups (SIGs):

  1. Testing Evaluation and Assessment Special Interest Group (TEA-SIG)

  1. Business Communication Special Interest Group (BCom SIG)
  2. Leadership and Management Special Interest Group (LaM-SIG)
  3. Curriculum Development and Innovation Special Interest Group (CDI – SIG)
  4. Learning Technologies Special Interest Group (LTech – SIG)
  5. Cross-cutting Issues Special Interest Group (CCI – SIG)
  6. Materials Writing Special Interest Group (MW-SIG)
  7. Teacher Development Special Interest Group (TeD-SID)
  8. Primary Literacy Special Interest Group (PL-SIG)
  9. Literature Special Interest Group (Lit-SIG)
  10. Research and Archives Special Interest Group ReA – SIG)
  11. Inclusive Practices and SEN Special Interest Group (IP&SEN -SIG)
