ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUBJECT ASSOCIATION

  1. Determine the nature and reasons for learners’ interest in our subject areas.
  2. Conduct research in the subject area with a view to generating new knowledge. 
  3. Refine and ensure effective utilisation of resources in the subject area
  4. Suggest ways and means for improved lesson delivery in subject areas.
  5. Engage actively in professional discourse to clarify, discus and resolve topical issues for Continuing Professional Development.
  6. Conduct results analyses to determine the pedagogical interventions to make language learning meaningful.
  7. Find strategies to improve performance. 
  8. Revise and update pedagogical approaches for professional growth.
  9. Material production/publications – conduct book reviews, write pamphlets and course notes for realistic learning experiences in line with national syllabus guidelines.
  10. Use of technology in teaching/social media platforms to deliver lessons and share knowledge and skills.

REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS 

  1. What platforms do we have to deliver the above mandate?
  2. How effective are these platforms?
  3. Has LATAZ affected learner performance in your locality?
  4. Are there any operational linkages among teachers of each level especially between primary and secondary teachers in the delivery of the mandate?
  5. Which of the roles have you performed well in?
  6. What are the barriers you have that influence or affect your delivery of the mandate and what have you done about it?
