The Language Teachers’ Association of Zambia (LATAZ) joined the teaching profession in celebrating the inaugural Uniform Day on 31st January 2025.

An initiative of the Ministry of Education, Uniform Day, was celebrated by all teachers, administrators, and cooperating partners donning their colourful uniforms to reaffirm their commitment to providing quality and equitable education for all.
To mark the important day, LATAZ was invited to exhibit at the Ministry of Education Headquarters by displaying its success stories for 2024 and teaching learning materials authored by some of its members. The National Executive Committee, represented by the Deputy National Secretary, Elina Munkondia, used the event to network, strengthen existing and establish partnerships with the corporate world.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Education Honourable Douglas Siyakalima, MP, announced that uniform dad had been conceived to remind all professions that regardless of one’s social status, education remained a cherished equaliser. He also thanked the Ministry of Education staff, teachers and pupils for the successes scored since the introduction of the free education policy, especially the pass rate in the 2024 Grade Twelve School Certificate Examinations, which he said had pleased the Republican President, Dr Hakainde Hichilema.

Teachers from across the country flooded social media, especially Facebook with pictures of themselves clad in colourful uniforms reminiscent of their school days.
