Legal & Operational Foundation

📜

All members must comply with the **LATAZ Constitution** and the **Societies Act Cap 119** (Zambian law). Adherence upholds the reputation of the association.

CRITICAL CLARIFICATION:

LATAZ is **NOT an accrediting body**. Membership cannot be used to claim professional competency.

The Five Pillars of the Code

These principles establish the behavioral and ethical framework for all LATAZ activities. Authorization from the **NEC** is required for any public statements.

1. Responsibility & Accountability

Adhere to all LATAZ regulations and Zambian law. Uphold the association's reputation at all times.

2. Integrity & Honesty

Avoid false claims of accreditation. Seek NEC authorization for public statements on LATAZ's behalf.

3. Respect

Promote **diversity** and **equal opportunities**. Show consideration for **local cultures** and respect fellow members' expertise.

4. Privacy & Confidentiality

Respect individual and collective rights to **privacy**. Maintain confidentiality of information acquired in confidence.

5. Collaboration

Actively **share knowledge**, disseminate learning, and promote **good practice** among the membership.

Prohibited Conduct: Zero-Tolerance Areas

The Code strictly defines four unacceptable behaviours, all of which carry equal weight in terms of seriousness and warrant prompt investigation if reported. Breaches are referred to the **LATAZ Complaints Procedure**.

Discrimination

Treating someone less favourably due to a **protected characteristic** (e.g., age, race, religion) as defined by Zambian laws.

Harassment

Any **unwanted conduct** related to a protected characteristic that violates dignity or creates a hostile environment.

Victimisation

Treating a person badly because they have made or supported a non-malicious complaint of **discrimination**.

Bullying

An **abuse of power** (physical, verbal, nonverbal, or **online media**) intended to undermine, humiliate, denigrate, or injure the recipient.

Volunteers' Extended Duties

LATAZ Volunteers have additional responsibilities to uphold the integrity and development of the association.
